The value of a WC on full steel might be higher then a 220 FWA on melted or burned rubber on that day. But don't you wonder what the History Channel will talk about if we wake up Saturday morning and the earth is still spinning? They have been trying their darnest to scare us into watching them for years.

If the Mayans were so good at predicting the future, there would still be Mayans.

That's a good one. I posted earlier that; "All parties Friday night would end abrutly at midnight!", but I figured folks didn't grasp my point since no one commented!

Gee, and to think I wasted all that money on Christmas presents, and wasted money topping up the anti-freeze in all my tractors . . . . . . .

I knew there was a better reason to not start my Christmas shopping yet, besides my usual one of not getting around to it.

Reminds of my ex-brotherinlaw who tried to get me to take eckinazia ( sp?).
He said the Mayans took it for everything. My question to him was where are the Mayans?

Dave I would order a calender but since reading your post and spitting coffee all over the keyboard and monitor I think I'll just replace them.

not a history professor here, but i have had a lifelong interest in the maya.
three facts: 1. there are still quite a few mayan folks living in the yucatan area... and they do not consider themselves mexicans. also in belize but can't confirm if they consider themselves nationals. 2. for a long time mayans were thought to be "the peaceful ones" but now we know they had the same beheading & live heart removal rituals as the aztecs and other cultures in ancient mexico. 3. their amazing success as a culture is attributed to very efficient collective farming. no doubt they would have been among the first ac tractor users if the spanish conquistadors hadn't come along.

Hey- be careful... that coffee is most likely Columbian, and I think there may be a Mayan or two there... Actually, the Mayans really had their engineering sorted-out... their calendar is pretty complex, but the cool part, is that it's totally recycleable. Good thing, too... darned few people that I know, can actually OPERATE one. Just goes to show, that no matter how GOOD something may be, if it ain't easy-to-use, it'll just get thrown in the trash bin. And on a totally unrelated, but basically similar note, would someone PLEASE take this so-called "SMART-PHONE" and smash it with a sledgehammer until it's nothing but a pile of crunched plastic, shards of glass, and oozing toxic liquid... it may be able to do a zillion things, but it does NONE of them well... ESPECIALLY place phone-calls... (perhaps I could make it more useful by downloading the Mayan Calendar app...) |
