WHat causes the green powdery oxidation on some battery terminals.
My daughters car always has the stuff on it and I clean it off regularly.

my other vehicles don't get it.   why on one and not the other?

Its caused by acid leaking out of the battery corroding the terminals. The acid can come out the vents or sometimes will leak around the posts. Why your daughters vehicle and not the others? It could be your daughters car tends to overcharge the battery a little bit and boils some acid out, or the battery might leak out the vents or around the posts more than your other vehicles batteries. The last battery I had in one of my pickups was like that. The battery finally went bad and I replaced it and low and behold, no more corrosion problems.
just my 2 cents...
Ben
