I have a AC I600 backhoe. What should the output of the generator be at the F (field) post and the A (armature) post with out the regulator attached? Once you put the regulator on ( it is a three tab regulator) and connect the leads shouldn't the batt terminal to ground be 12 + volts?
I am getting .41 volts from the f post to ground and the same voltage from the A post to ground. Nothing between them. When I put the regulator on I was getting 12 + volts at first. Then later when I started the backhoe nothing from the generator. I rechecked the generator and the brush was not in contact with the armature (the spring broke). I fixed that and it is putting out the .41 again. But I am not getting anything out of the new regulator batt terminal. The first regulator I shorted so I got another one and now I get nothing out of it. I am wondering if this new regulator is bad, is there any way to test a regulator? Thanks Bill |

You need to look up the procedure to "flash", or polarize the new regulator. I forget which terminals that you have to touch together, as I have converted all my AC's to alternators. Hang on, there will be other posters who will clue you in!
