BIIIIGGGG farm auction next week, guy started farming in 50's never sold anything!
Looks like he started with allis then moved to IH He has allis plows, post auger, planter, cultivators sub soiler, blade, etc My question, some of this stuff hooks to the rear and its all allis brand so how did it hook up? is it close to 3pt hitch that i could put it on my 3pt or could it be done easily by changing pins or is the allis set up completely different? thanks taylor |

Allis Chalmers Had the Snap Coupler system. Basically had two lift arms that lifted the implement. The implement would also be held in by an eye hole that actually attaches to a spring loaded hook directly under the driver. The operator would back up to the implement until they heard the "snap" of the spring loaded hook. You would attach the lift arms and up you go.
With that being said hooking a snap coupler implement to a 3 point tractor would really take some reworking but i guess anything could be done. |

some snap coupler equipment also had a 3pt setup that went on as well . you took the long rod that the arms went on off and the 3pt setup went in its place i have only seen this on a set of plows .

Allis plows could be assembled (with additional parts) as snap coupler, three point, or pull behind using the same frame and ground contacting parts. The parts book makes it look like one ordered the frame and then the hitch and then the plow bottoms off of separate lists.

The Oxnard blade could be changed from SC to 3 pt. or visa versa. You would still need the right parts to change any of these over from SC to 3pt.
