Anyone ever have the chance to buy something at one point in their life but didnt and now wonder wtf you were thinking not to buy it??? My biggest regret was back in the early 90's my father and I went to look at a gleaner F3 at a auction. It was a cherry green strip with every option , even the power fold ladder and  rwa. It was flawless. My father was kinda "on the fence" as they say and all it would have took was me to convince him to buy it as money wasnt the issue. To bad I was more interested in girls and beer at that time. I wish we had that sweet combine now. Ryan

Ah yes.  But remember life is also about the beer and girls.  Let's hear more about those regrets.

Lots and lots and lots....seem I never learn.  But then again I have gotten a lot of things by acting fast and not hesitating.  Hopefully it will even out in the end. Last was a couple of weeks ago there were a nice set of 15.5 x 38 tires on PAW rims for $500 on CL.  I talked to the guy and we agreed I would pay him $50 to deliver them...he never showed and the ad has been removed.  I should of made time to go get them myself....oh well...that's life.

Dad talks of a WD45 that needed a long block.  They ordered one, just as the D17 had been introduced.  It came labeled as a D17 engine!  He has mentioned several times that that is one he would like back!

Bought a Remington "Speedmaster" .22 rifle, was the fancy version, paid $75 for it, sold it for $75 a while later, then years later I started to miss it and went to find another....$500 was as cheap as I can find one now.

How about passing on the 80 across the road from my house for $1100 an acres back in 1983 (I'd only been farming a year) and watching it sell for $8,800 an acre last year?

Coulda bought an SP100 for $60, and passed, the guy started it up and drove it home.  Another time an A was stuck, and I being a husky boy, got it loose, then It brought more money than I had at the time.  A guy I had told about the sale bought it out from under me.  I'm just too nice a guy.  LOL
Missed three 409 chevy engines at a sale, two complete, one short block.  All three sold for $6.  Really missed the boat that day.

Yep, Dad came to me in the mid 70's and wanted to know if I was interested in an 80 acre patch that butted up to his. It was in the middle of the block and the seller had a buyer for the north 80 and the south 80 but nobody wanted to pay $500 an acre for mostly pasture and timber in the middle. He even told me I didn't need any money to put down, he just needed a boost to go buy it. 2 years later the whole farm sold for $1800 an acre and who knows what it would be worth now.

When I first started doing machine repair work, I had need of a snap ring pliers about once a week for the first month. When the tool guy came by, I bought a good set, didn't need em for 2 years but they do come in handy when you need em.LOL

hind sight is 20-20.  30 years ago I watched an A-C  model A sell for 10 dollars. I think it was A 1937.  Had A 1955 thunderbird offered for 500 dollars--the guy was driving it so it wasn't too bad condition . Cann't worry about the ones tha got away just take care of the ones that made it "home".

Went to auction to see WD45D sell, as soon as I got there I walked up to the tractor as auctioneer said sold, $3500.  It had a real nice paint job, but I did not hear it run or knew any history so maybe it was good I was running late.  Was a D21 II advertised not too far away for $6500, already had sheet metal fixed up and primed, talked to guy a few times but never took time to look at it.  Few years later saw a bareback one sell for $10,200 and needed rebuilt.

On the other hand, I've bought some I wish I wouldn't have.

A few years back there was a d19 diesel local for sale.   The wife even gave me permission to go and take a look at it and buy it if I wanted to.   Instead of going down one night after work and taking it for a test drive I figured I would wait till the weekend and make a trip down there with the trailer and cash in hand and save myself a second trip.    Was sold before the weekend so I never got to look at it.   Have a d19 gas now, but wish I would have the diesel.

Nothing tractor but my tear jerker is by the late 70s I had worked for a few years and was still living at home. Instead of saving wisely like my banker and mother told me I had instead threw my money away on a little bit of beer, a few  guns, some racing and on an entire back yard full of muscle cars.  2- 66, 68, 69 and 70 SS396 Chevelles, 66 Chevy II 327, 68 Camero RS 327 (with fold down rear seat, look that one up) 70 Plymouth RR 440 6 pack. None of them were ragged out racers or rot mobiles but solid factory equipped and complete cars. Most I paid for any of them was $850. Did the first "wise " thing with my money in 1981 and bought a house. Instead of raiding the savings account I did the prim and proper thing and sold all but one of those "worthless stupid cars"  getting $1800 for the best one I sold. I kept the best of the lot and my favorite a solid 66-SS 396 365HP 4 speed and put it in the garage. Then I got married (smart thing, good woman, still here) and about ayear later I came home from work and that 100 lb woman had pushed the 3600 lb Chevelle out of the garage and drove her rotted out Volarie in and anounced that was were it was staying. Chevelle advertised in Hemmings and sold the day it came out.
Had I kept them all unitl the big price rise afew years later  Id be writing this from my retirement home instead of my work computer!!

it's all about timing, right place right time and a pocket full of$$$. i've won afew and lost a few of those battles!!  i'm trying to be that guy that wins right now, i have a line on 2 d-19d's for a "good price" one had a recent $5,000 engine overhaul, the other has had a 5 year ago engine overhaul but is cosmetically rough around the edges.worst case scenario i only end up with 1 as i have already negotiated a deposit and a time frame to pick it up . i hope dad doesn't read this, i think i fergot to tell him we bought another d19.  Shocked, pete

Back in the early 80's a local dealer had a FWA 220 on the lot.  I think he wanted somewhere around $6500 for it.  At the the time I didn't know it was rare, but I did know it was cool.  Tried to get Dad to trade in the XT for it but he said the FWA would be expensive to fix when repairs were needed.  I was in high school at the time didn't have that kind of money.  If I only had a time machine.

By the time I made up my mind, from morning till late afternoon, a one owner WD-45.  I waited one hour too long.  Another one (he was the 3rd owner) told him yes.  He said he was away till after 6pm and I said I would come out then.  He called me at about 2 and told me he had sold it to another guy who just showed up with cash in hand.  That one still boils me!  My worst was about 10 years ago.  A perfectly restored, frame off, 1966 Pontiac GTO convertible, 6 pack, 4-speed for $7500.  Somebody kick me please!!

Poorly advertised sale with a pile of misc AC iron that had a set of WC front steel for $5, didn't know what they were until talking later with the guy that bought the pile, made a new AC friend........but also got a nice 37 WC for $225 also, so not all lost.  Trailer was already full too.
Thanks
