When did M&W stop producing engine kits and other parts for tractors. Are the bits and peices offered for sale now 30 0r 40 years old? Does anyone here know any of the history of M&W? Thanks, Gary

Herschell adams has the old 301 and 426 high compression m&w kits. Not sure if anyone still makes the other m&w engine kits for the other engines.

I think Heritage Iron had an article on M and W in one of their early issues-perhaps you could find a copy from a friend? Sherry might have a few copies around yet, too. I think there are companies offering clones of the Add-powr piston kits, I don't know if they are actual M and W.

Great topic!! M&W made several items I believe. I know the piston kits, a turbo add on, something about a deeper oil pan??? Also a automatic combine header height called the "Robot"!!! We put one on our gleaner E back in the day. Anymore details anyone?? Ryan

9 speed transmission for Farmalls. With piston technology being so much better in todays market. They still seams to be alot of interest in old piston technology.

Doesn't SealPower have something similar to the M&W piston kits. Thats what I put in my 7060 and it starts much better in cold weather.

Powerseal or Sealpower sticks in my mind. They have been in my 7045 for ten years now. I run an oil pan heater for winter use, as the motor fires way to fast for cold oil. If I was to rebuild the 7080, I would want them.

Put a PowerSeal kit in our last WD45 overhaul. It's supposed to be the current iteration of the M&W PowerAdder kit from the past. It not only increased the compression, but also the displacement by increasing the bore by 0.125". Tractor starts & runs great and makes over 50 HP. Kip

I knew Elmo Meiner and Art Warsaw back in the day. Those two were real entreprenuers and innovators. Eventually they split and Elmo ended up with M&W and Art moved his operation to Colfax, IL and started A&W dynamometers. I always liked to talk to Aaron Warsaw, Art's son. His office and factory was across the street from my office. Art would leave on a selling trip that could be any where in the world and send back orders for dynamometers that would keep the factory busy for months.
M&W was an innovator in tillage equipment and grain dryers, they also procuced the "Little Red Wagon" when a 400 bu wagon was a monster. Elmo had a lot of ventures, one of them was producing golf cars that had Cadillac and Rolls Royce bodies in Cooksville, IL.
Those two were a couple of the last great innovators in agriculture.

Ryan Renko, the deeper oil pans were for added capacity to allow the oil to cool better. Saw them mostly on 4010's with M&W blowers in the earlier days. There was a lot of experimentation in those days. Oliver got many bad knocks with the 1855, it was basically the same motor as the 1955, except it did not have adequate oil cooling. My 1855 broke a camshaft discing one day. And when we got it into the dealers shop, the cam bearing looked like worms had eaten the babbit between block and cam. They had a repower program where they installed a new 1955 engine in it's place. As I remember it still cost about 7500 difference which was about what an overhaul minus injection rebuilds cost.

Great info link. I have a 1978 K2 gleaner diesel 433T orange engine. Which tractor engine rebuild kit would I purchase to use in my gleaner for its rebuild - 6060 or 6070?
