Where is the S/N stamped on my HD5 Dozer? I looked on top of the back housing by the steering clutch cover but can’t see it.

It is on the back of the housing, cnot the top. You were within inches of it.

Left rear case on back side of casting about 1" down from top , if it is a HD5G with counterweight it may be covered over .
Also on plate on dash on right side of throttle housing but just above the brake pedal
If a B then you should be able to see it on the back side - look above the draw bar housing straight up

On my HD5B it is on the right side about an inch down from the top. Straight back from where the linkage goes down into the housing next to the steering clutch cover.

Yes the serie number should be on right side but if you have a winch or ripper the serie number should be covert.
