Hello everyone,

Has anyone replaced their original cast iron Briggs with something more modern?

So far all Ive found is an 11hp I/C Briggs for $650 and I'd rather not spend that.

Just in case, are engine rebuild parts still available for the original engine?

Thanks in advance

Paul

Paul:
From some posts that I have seen on our forum, there are parts available.  I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than me will chime in soon.

Another website to join and check is = www.simpletractors.com, which is a site for Allis Chalmers and Simplicity lawn and garden tractors.

Welcome to a fantastic Allis Chalmers forum!

In a New Holland S16 (Ariens bought NH later) I repowered the first time from Kohler to a Techumsia and then to a Honda 20 HP V engine , needed to make a adapter for flywheel to hydro coupling but a easy conversion
For a cheap engine now it seems the Harbor Freight engines are the best deal -put one of their 6.5 HP on my roto-tiller 3 years back and for $99 it's great.
