 Topic: battery cut-off switch on 190xt

Just wondering if any of the 190's had battery cut-off switches or safety switches from the factory, and if so, where were they mounted?.....

We have them on our combines, 8050's 8070, 7020 and both 200's. On the 200 we mounted to the front cowling where the side panel "used" to be, above the clutch pedal. Split the positive cable between battery and solenoid.

Here ya go Troy. I forgot that on the everything except the 7020, I put the disconnect in the ground cable from the battery, That way if the switch or cable becomes defective, it would not be live.

Leon, many thanks for the pic.! So, you put the "original" ground cable on the switch and on the other side of the switch ran a "new" ground. Do you have two batteries on these tractors? Did you tie both of the grounds together and run them to the switch?

Yes, 2 batteries, one cable from them through switch, back to housing. The switches came from some semi-truck service shop dad knows of in St. Louis. Amazon has them for about the same money. I think dad said he paid like $27 apiece.

Safety. You can wrench all day on the grounded side of the battery and having your wrench accidentally touch the frame won't cause any nasty sparks. You can do the same on the hot terminal with the switch turned off.

I was always told, ground cable is always the first cable to take off and the last one to put on.

Yeah, and its a get what ya pay for to! Chinese junk. Find yourself a Cole/Hersee, Grote, or Standard Ignition unit. Put a good one on it and forgetaboutit.
