180 chassis with a 399 cubic inch 301 and a "P" pump.... hope to run 7th gear every time with 18.4 x 38 tires(maybe 8th gear).   Better turbos out there than a 3LM466.

I would think 15k on up to whatever you wanted to spend. What kinda horsepower could be got with the rules and using the 301?

If it was me i would use a 426 cubed up to 480. Use one out of an 8070 with the ambac pump. Those are good for 500cc of fuel. Plenty for the 3lm. Would make alot of torque. Could definitely run 8th gear in a 180. I dont think the 3500rpm is enough to make up for the displacement of the big motors.

Well, at 6000 lbs the heavier engine isn't an asset. 7th gear at 3500 is almost the same speed as 8th at 3,000.

190 with a 301 taken to 399 just so I could go with a p pump. Sounds like a fun class.

A 175 is out of the question. 180 or 185 is the same same when it comes to what you're asking.

7th gear at 3500 RPM is just about 25 MPH and 8th gear at 3,000 RPM is 26 MPH.

Yes it looks to be a fun class and not as expensive as some! It seems to be growing in Kentucky and other areas. How hard would the 190 be to get down to 6000?

According to tractor data they were 7700lbs. Remove rock housing and lighten the front end. Then pressed wheels and I think you would be close.

Not that easy to make with a 190 rear 3-350 lbs heavier than the 180 rear and 20% slower too. We are running same rules at 7000 lbs and open rpm 399cid under .

I've talked to Mr Larry and he's got a 190 chassis with tube front. He seems to think it would go light enough for the class
