RIP Mark. Condolences and prayers for his friends and family.
Recently I decided I should start writing up a history on the 8000 series design. I sent Mark a PM about a month ago and asked if he would do an interview. He was delighted to do so and we decided to do something this fall. I only live about 90 miles from Rochester so it could easily be done. I drug my feet too long I guess. Jim |

Rest in Peace Mark - you will be missed.
I have no idea how it would be done, but could Mark's posts be saved in the knowledge base section? It would sure be fantastic to archive his experiences. |

Mark will be truly missed. Over the past decade, his shared knowledge of AC equipment helped me fix/repair several items. I too enjoyed his latest 8000 series cab thread. Furthermore, he shared his insights of the 1984 Duetz buyout of AC. It's not everyday that you get firsthand stories like him visiting with Duetz's engineers. Thanks Mark! Prayers for his beloved wife & family.

Wow, that blind-sided me. Very sad news. I was really looking forward to meeting Mark in person some time. Like ILGleaner said, he had a big hand in designing the best tractor ever built. Thanks for informing us of this tragic loss. Darrel

That's a good idea Gerald. I wonder if that's something Austin would add to his Allis history pages?

If someone has the time it would be interesting to create a web page of Mark's descriptive comments on AC designs and internal politics and decisions while he worked there based on his posts to this forum which showed much insight. A history of AC as seen by Mark.

After Roxann had passed Mark contacted me to meet him for lunch down in Coats MN as he was going to visit his grandson who was in the hospital . We spent a couple hours talking over lunch with him buying - said next time i could - well looks like that will be missed time to reciprocate ... Enjoyed the time and it was a chance to get out and get away from the time alone . Might be someone close to the family can return the favor here in a month or so if not to his family to another who has a loss in their lives they need a few minutes away from .
May his family find comfort in this time knowing that beyond this life is a time of wonder we can not imagine in the care of the Lord.

My deepest sympathies. He forgot more about A-C than any of us will ever know, being an A-C engineer and all. He was a major player in designing the 8000 series, and their nice cabs. Oh the stories he could tell, and sadly too many are now gone forever.

Sorry for your loss Allis Steiger. Me and my son in law, stopped by Mark and Mary's house, when we were up that way one winter. He made a pizza and we ate that and talked about tractors. He took us out to his shed and showed us his toys, and in the garage to see the vette he bought when he worked for AC. I really enjoyed my visit that day, l couldn't believe l was sitting at the table, of the guy in charge of designing one of the best tractors ever built. He also talked about his time at white and developing the 4-150. I sit hear and smile thinking of Mark, when l was backing my gooseneck into his drive. I got out of my truck, he had a smile on his face and said " let's not talk about politics" l said you have a deal !!!! My condolences to Mary and there sons and their families. IG
