I have a 416 that ran good but was parked for 6 years ,tried to start but no spark. I swapped plug,coil,condenser and plug wire from a running engine points are new ,there is power to coil but still no spark. any suggestions what to check next.thanks for any advise.

I worked on a K series Kohler over the winter (14 hp). Did you buy Kohler points or STENS? I took a set of STENS back because I could not get it to run on them. I put in the Kohler points and it fired right up. I have also had issues with the point gap being just a tad off. Their is not much room for error, so recheck point gap. Hope this helps.

probley got some oil onthe new pionts with the feeler gauge allways wash feeler gauge off with squirt of ether      but you probley have lost battery power to coil from key swicth check battery power at the coil with test light if no power start looking at the key wire  or key swicth    if there is power there then its a coil or points problem or sspark plug wire   only use cooper  spark plug wire

have found points where they would not ground as to much resistance on one point contact . corrosion on the stationary point contact where it is welded to base . 
 also have seen it where insulation on moving point did not insulate and went to ground .
 to test points I set engine position to where points were open , then took screwdriver and grounded out the point that was hot - should get a spark as you make ground - this should cause coil to fire . if not there is a problem - then tracing it back to either coil, condenser, or points themselves . 
 Last year on my Norton it lost power on one plug of dual point dual coil setup , found one point was corroded on contact , ran point file emery board across contacts - still would not fire but then cleaned it with brake cleaner and fired fine , somehow there was a oil film somewhere that prevented full conductivity even after cleaning mechanically.

Thanks to all for the advice you gave me, I double checked everything , seemed to be nothing wrong as a last resort I sprayed battery cleaner on the points, then blew off with compressed air and then had perfect spark.

Points get oxidized after they sit for long periods of time. I've found a little spritz of Brakekleen and run a clean rag through the contacts and Viola! Spark!!
