516 engine in a 7080 ever been done?

Has this ever been done?  If so what mods and how would you keep it cool? im sure the rear end will handle it fine

"the rear end will handle it".....what do you base that on? From what's been said on here over the years, the torque of the 516 will eat the rear end. Peterson has a video of a 516 in an 8000 chassis with a 7000 front sheet metal. It is dedicated to PTO work (cutting silage) which doesn't load up the rear end.

A 516 would be too slow for a 7080 rear end, you'd be back like a 190 with road gear at 13 mph lmao!

That has been a dream of mine. The rear end and trans will take it and you will be the first to know when they won't. The cool meter, however, would peg out with that setup. It is a hot rod-ers dream to put a big engine in a classic '32 Ford.

I have an engineering report written up by A-C telling about the design and development of the 7080 tractor.  One of the things they said was the engine speed was increased to 2800 RPM to help the input shafts of the transmission handle the increased torque of the 3750 engine. So, they must have felt the transmission input area was borderline weak, so the engine speed was increased to deal with that weakness. A 516 engine at 2400 RPM and 50 more HP could be a problem if used to the engines max output all the time. Not my opinion, but the opinion of A-C's tractor driveline engineers.
